The questions here — and the answers — are meant to help you understand how the studio works, what each subscription level offers, and how to choose the relationship that fits your rhythm.
1. What do I receive as a free subscriber?
Free subscribers receive:
announcements and updates
occasional public posts from across the studio
selected stories, reflections, and excerpts
early glimpses into new projects as they surface
Free access is designed as an open door — a way to explore the House at your own pace.
You also have the option to claim the Founding Member rate at 76% off
(subject to change after January 31, 2026).
See Choose Your Entry for details.
2. What do I receive as a paid subscriber?
Paid subscribers receive everything listed above, plus:
subscriber-only fiction and nonfiction
audio versions of selected pieces
access to works-in-progress, experiments, and private dispatches
early access to select completed stories before they become public
access to Studio Chat (comment threads + light community spaces)
Paid access is designed for readers who want to move a little closer to the creative field as it unfolds.
3. What do I receive as a Studio Circle member?
Studio Circle includes everything in paid, plus:
occasional alternate versions of select pieces
beta-reader invitations (fiction and nonfiction)
occasional PDFs or printables when relevant
influence polls on upcoming work
access to the Studio Circle chat for those who enjoy helping shape what comes next
Studio Circle is the closest relationship — part support, part collaboration.
4. What happens after an Open Door Trial ends?
The Open Door Trial gives full paid access for a specific duration (e.g., 180 days, 90 days, 30 days).
At the end of the trial, the subscription converts to paid at the current rate unless cancelled.
The platform handles the transition automatically.
You can cancel anytime before the trial ends to avoid charges.
5. Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime?
Yes. All subscription management — upgrades, downgrades, cancellations — happens through your Substack account settings.
The platform handles the logistics directly.
6. How often do you publish? Will I receive every post by email?
Cadence varies by voice and by project.
Some pieces arrive in quiet bursts.
Some arrive monthly.
Others evolve slowly and surface when they’re ready.
Email settings also differ:
you may receive major posts by email, but some pieces live quietly on the site, ready to be discovered when you explore.
The intention is not volume — it is clarity and resonance.
Each post has a reason to exist.
7. Will every piece have an audio version?
Not every piece, but many will.
Some posts will appear as text-only.
Some as audio-only.
Some as both.
A dedicated Listening Room will hold all audio in one place.
This includes stories, reflections, and select experiments.
(Accessible from the Home Page once it opens.)
8. Do you offer refunds?
The platform does not offer refunds, but you may cancel anytime through your account settings to pause future charges.
9. Can I gift a subscription?
Yes.
The “Gift” option appears on the subscription page.
This allows you to send paid access to someone else.
10. Do you offer group or institutional subscriptions?
Yes.
Substack supports group subscriptions through the “Group” option on the subscribe page.
You can select the number of seats, and the platform manages access and billing.
If you need something more specific, you’re welcome to reach out.
Thank you for supporting this studio.
