I went to bed and found myself thinking about a word made by borrowing the structure of an existing portmanteau and fastening another well-recognized name to it. The nouveau-portmanteau became the anthem of a movement devoted to ushering in the Age of Authenticity because, well, the word was true, original, and genuine rather than copied or counterfeit, and its coiner…a poster of authenticity.
The word from which the anthem had been made was eventually flagged for resembling the anthem too closely.
