There is something here about work, worth, survival, and the things I want free.
I keep returning to the question of whether I can love the work fully without asking it to carry too much for me.
I want to expect widely and remain open to what is possible. I also want to be at peace with zero. These can walk together, though the walk asks practice.
What interests me here is the larger field of making and contribution. Creative writing is one form for me. Consulting is another. So are farming, medicine, law, mechanics, sanitation, teaching, caregiving, governance, and the many forms of work through which we contribute to this timeless experience we call life.
The question here feels larger than writing. It reaches toward what survival asks of making, of contribution, of the alive parts of us.
I have been good at keeping peace between different parts of myself. I am becoming more interested in listening for what those parts actually need.
Maybe that is part of the work here too:
to notice what I ask the work to hold.
to notice what belongs to work, and what belongs elsewhere.
to imagine a life where work, worth, income, and survival relate more freely.
to imagine what humans may create then.
Hopefully I will feel ready to show more of this work soon.
Need = what would make me happy
The work = what emerges through working or creating, an act of meeting what is needed
Creative self = the one who does something new to me, for me
Working self = the one who does what keeps my body fed, sheltered, and accepted by others
Free = able to act as one wishes; not under the control or power of another
Question still here:
What kind of world, self, and structure would let the streams relate more freely?
